Brioche + Mystery

Verbrauch:

1333 m / 1456 yds / 4 Knäuel gesamt

  • Farbe A: 363 m / 397 yds / 1 Knäuel

Maschenprobe:

21 Maschen / 42 Reihen = 10 cm / 4″ in Kraus-Rechts
21 Maschen / 21 Reihen = 10 cm / 4″ in echtem Patent

Abgebildet in:

Tuch 1 = pink/gelb, Tuch 2 = grau/pfirsich/grün, Tuch 3 = grau/violett/rosa/petrol

  • Tuch 1: Steppke von Frida Fuchs (100% Merino; 366 m / 400 yds per 100 g) in den Farben Kurkuma (A – gelb), Rosmarinheide (B – rosa), Mukhwas (C – beige) und Pitaya (D – pink).
  • Tuch 2: Merino Singles von La Bien Aimee (100% Merino; 366 m / 400 yds per 100 g) in den Farben Jinju (A – grau-beige), Dawn (B – pfirsich), Loam (C – grau-braun) und Ursa (D – grün).
  • Tuch 3: (Organic) Rustic Fingering von Neighborhood Fiber Co. (100% Merino; 434 m / 475 yds per 114 g) in den Farben Patterson Park (A – grau-beige), Park Heights (B – violett) Cross Street Market (C – rosa) und Reservoir Hill (D – petrol).
Größe:

Läng: 220 cm / 86 ½“, Höhe: 96 cm / 37 ½“

Nadelstärken:

US 4 / 3.5 mm Rundstricknadeln (oder Größe für passende Maschenprobe); plus größere Nadel (z.B. US 7/4.5 mm) zum Abketten

Sonstiges:

Stopfnadel, 2 Maschenmarkierer

💕Happy Spring!!! Time to pull out the old wip so I can wear it soon!💕#sosumkal2021 sosuknits 💕 yarn from doeweknit 💕 in darkomenyarn 💕
Along with lots of other knitters, I’ve been joining in with the latest mystery knit a long and I am thoroughly enjoying it, despite having to frog back a few rows as my brain just wouldn’t translate what was written down into what I actually knitted.
This has made me take a look back at the last shawl MKAL I participated in which was the sosuknits 2021 which was called Brioche and Mystery - I loved it and the results were soooo good!
The great thing about these KAL’s is that you are encouraged to jump in at the deep end and try new techniques and methods that might otherwise stop you in your tracks. Perhaps I should transfer this thinking to the rest of my life, it might be more exciting. I’ll mull this over while I go and get another cup of tea, this might be a bit much for a Wednesday!

This week's featured project is a monochrome masterpiece created by knitcola from a pattern by sosuknits and our black yarn. We can't get enough of this look, and if you're looking to create your own, we stock most of our yarns undyed and the wool yarns in hand-dyed black.

Tag us in your projects for the chance to be featured in #IASUProjectTuesday

Repost knitcola:

My last finished knitted object in Dubai!! I’ve finished my second #sosumkal2021 Knitting with black yarn is not my favourite especially as I do most of my knitting in the evening once the kids are in bed. Thanks to the talented & ever so stylish seaofstring for suggesting the genius idea to knit this in black and white. The white is actually undyed from my lovely yarn supplier botanicalyarn and the black is from its.a.stitch.up (black hand dyed yarn is a real treat to find so if you need some now you know where to go!)

Ok let's face it. You will never see the shawl in its entirety. It's just too big. The curvature of the globe always hides the other end so what can you do?

This tiny bit of knitting actually means a hell of a lot. I’ve been massively struggling with menopause over the last four years culminating in a visit to a consultant last week.

If you know me, you know that I wear my heart on my sleeve, so I’m going to talk about it openly.

I used to be an intelligent, quietly confident woman who used to run her own business. By last week, I was a gibbering wreck who could hardly string a sentence together or keep a train of thought going. It felt like my body was giving up on me and I was sinking into early dementia. (I wasn’t, it just felt like that).

I’m not ashamed to say I grabbed the offer of HRT, having researched it thoroughly, and I still have the words of the consultant ringing in my ears. She said what’s the point of getting through it without help if you need it? Lots of women get through with no or a few symptoms. But if you’re one of the ones who has a miserable existence, why not take the medical help that’s there? Yes, there are small risks (much more minimal than some quarters would have you believe)
but there are risks if you take an ibuprofen or a paracetamol.

I’d tried every single other medical treatment offered, herbal treatments, antidepressants, vitamins but nothing touched the symptoms. I’ve only been on HRT a few days so far, but I must have been so low on oestrogen that I’m already feeling SO much better and much more like my old self.

And I’m starting to think clearly again. The difference is incredible. I appreciate it’s not for every woman and some can’t take it even if they want to, and I’m just reporting my own experience, but I feel like I’m gradually getting my life back.

Hence, the brioche knitting. I can do it again! It’s far from perfect, but I bloody did it!

finally a photo of me wearing the beautiful #briocheandmystery #sosumkal2021 shawl. Because of the silk, there isn't an itch to be felt!!!! Its warm and cosy when the rain is pouring here in Germany (I am not in the badly affected parts of Germany, just normal rain here)
