Shusui Shrug

Brioche and Garter are a match made in heaven – and the combination offers endless possibilities. This sleeved shawl is a drapey shrug with extra long sleeves.

The shrug is knit top-down like a shawl, starting at the center back, in two-color brioche and garter stitch with brioche sections at the back and fronts, large eyelet increases at the shoulders and one-color brioche sleeves.

The pattern is named after the minty speckled foreground color, dyed by the awesome Layla Qing of Qing Fiber on a super soft merino/cashmere base. The sample shrug is knit with two different semisolid background colors (Color B) – minty blue and minty green – for a slight gradient effect. For an extra color pop, the i-cord BO is worked in a contrasting color, a super-bright neon orange by Hedgehog Fibres that picks up the orange speckles.

The pattern was originally published in 2016 and has been updated in 2020 with extended sizes and stitch count tables.
