A year ago, a flood destroyed my workspace.
Luckily I had enough time to save all my yarn and samples.
But this is about what happened after.
I received so much support from knitters!
I lost a teaching gig and had to pay for cancelling.
I worked for months to mitigate the water damage and get the chaos unter control.
I renovate my workspace myself, all on my own, using skills I learned along the way. It completely drained me, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
The cost of building materials pales in comparison to the long-time loss of knitting patterns I had neither the time nor the energy to work on and publish.
Meeting knitters and yarnies, teaching or just hanging out, is an incredible motivation and inspiration boost.
I finally found not only a work-life balance, but also a body-mind balance. I now dedicate time to things that have nothing to do with work. I run and hike, bake and sew, garden and go to concerts. It fills my cup so I can be creative, motivated, and dedicated in my work.
When you make your beloved hobby your business, you may have the best job in the world, but you also lose your hobby, your outlet. And after 10 years of SOSUknits, I think I finally have some balance back.

The WAFFLE TEE knitting pattern is fresh out on Ravelry and Payhip!
The Waffle Tee features a crisp waffle texture and a comfortable A-line shape, with a Garter hem, and side slits.
The tee is knit with a modular sideways construction and an off-center shoulder in Fingering weight yarn.

Blocking swatches in late summer sun, with/despite help from Juliane.
I start by pinning out the swatches, ensuring the stitches are all neat, without stretching the fabric. I then remove the pins when the fabric is lightly damp and let it shrink back a little. I‘ll later play around with and scrunch the dry swatches to get a gauge reading that I like to call „relaxed after blocking“, which hopefully gets as close as possible to the gauge of the garment when wearing it.
I‘m about 20 swatches in at this point, since the yarn I had used for a sample has since been discontinued.
I may have to re-do the entire pattern math with a different gauge if I can‘t find a good substitute.🤞

I finished this back at the start of July and still haven’t worn it properly yet! Mostly because of the heat, but also I’m not sure I love it - what do you think?

Project Details: I knit the 56”, finished chest for around 18” positive ease on 3.5mm needles to meet gauge, opting for the chevron sleeves. The neck opening is a little wide and I find myself pulling it about a bit, but who knows, maybe I’ll love it?

The yarns are both trulyhooked Standard Sock in the shades “Raspberry Gin Fizz” and “Mendls’ for a lower contrast version in my favourite shades of pinky purple. As usual the yarn is IMPECCABLE. I probably should’ve alternated skeins on the body, but I was too lazy!

Je viens d’ajouter deux nouveaux combos dans la boutique, pour réaliser le châle Good Things de sosuknits !
J’ai testé le nouveau coloris Gratitude sur la base Atmosphère, un nouveau violet aubergine parfait pour l’automne. Il se marie parfaitement avec les 12 teintes chaudes du kit.
Et un second combo avec le coloris Espoir, qui ajoute beaucoup de contraste et va faire ressortir les minis à paillettes.
