Hoodie Shawl Cardigan

There is so much potential in the construction of a top-down triangular shawl – it doesn’t always have to end up being a shawl!
In this pattern what starts just like a shawl ends up being a hooded raglan cardigan.

The striped shawl section and the hood are knit in garter stitch. The body is worked on the bias to reflect the shawl shaping and add a little interest to the otherwise plain stockinette stitch. The hem is knit in reverse stockinette for some extra texture. The fitted sleeves are worked in stockinette with a striped garter cuff. The entire cardigan is surrounded by a garter stitch border with an i-cord bind-off for a smooth and finished look.

The instructions are for a three-color version, but you can also use only one or two colors – there is still plenty of contrast from the different textures & the unusual shaping!
