Soulsisters

The Soulsisters shawl is not only a collaboration with indie dyer EmiB, but it’s an expression of the friendships and bonds we forge thanks to our shared passion!

I’ve designed this shawl for and with my wonderful friends and my test knitting dream-team Emi & Marion – my soul sisters!

The main part of the shawl is knit top-down in two-color brioche and features garter squares sprinkled all over. After working some textured stripes, the one-color brioche section is knit sideways onto the main shawl triangle. The border is worked entirely in two layers of fluffy mohair.

The yarn is from Swiss indie dyer EmiB Tout À L’aiguille, who made all my mint and gray dreams come true with this gorgeous palette (it also happened to match my bicycle perfectly).

You need three colors of fingering weight yarn – I love merino singles for shawls – and one color of squishy, fluffy mohair lace.

The texture of the brioche and garter squares shows up better if you opt for (semi-)solids or light speckles (if the yarn is very busy, it hides the squares).
The mohair border can be made wider by adding rows. This is a good use of mohair if you don’t like wearing it right next to your skin.
