Wrapped Up

This shawl-turned-poncho is a great way to ward off the chill of autumn and a stylish alternative to your traditional triangular shawl.

You start by knitting a top-down shawl, then close to knit in the round and continue until your wrap is as long as you like. Make it small (like the DK weight version in silver/gray/purple) or large (like the worsted weight version in dark gray/blue) or anything in between. The wrap is finished with an i-cord bind off to mirror the i-cord edge at the neck opening.

Since the wrap is knit in all garter stitch, it’s a great blank canvas for you to play with colors: solid, stripes, blocks of color, gradients. Have fun with it!
